What happens when you put yourself out there.

Our Assistant Hotel Manager Jackie Batten, along with Head Chef Paul Ruttledge, Head Housekeeper Sally Stacey and Facilities Apprentice Byron Zilwood were invited to go to the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards this month. And what an evening it was!

The following morning Jackie sent out the exciting news to all the staff and we are very pleased to be able to share this in our newsletter.

“We were delighted to receive the highly commended award for ‘bistro restaurant of the year’ and silver in ‘small boutique hotel of the year’ but the highlight of the evening was the unexpected prize, the ‘winner of winners award in inspiration in tourism’. It was the last award to be handed out and we only knew we had won when they showed an inspiring video of Dave Jackson, Manager of The Beach Hotel. We were all so proud as Dave spoke with such passion about the refurbished open plan kitchen and how inspired the apprentices get from serving food prepared by themselves and for them to share in the guests delight at what they have produced.  The evening became even more bizarre when Nell the organiser face timed Dave as he was unable to attend due to being at the YMCA CEO’s conference in Bristol.  It was with great pride to be fortunate enough to go up and be presented with the beautiful glass globe on behalf of the whole team at The Beach.”
